Starting the project while finishing college, the system took a full year to build and calibrate.
I was the lead for this project and brought the assembly from sketch to CAD, to assembly, and finally a lengthy calibration phase.
The system measures the run-out, concentricity, overall length, and flange counter-bore depth on a wide range of drive shafts produced by our customer. The system is designed to accommodate over two dozen different shafts from three different product lines, all with an accuracy of plus/minus 0.2 mm.
Learning from an incredible team, I delegated electronics, programming, and machining to my co-workers while I sourced components, designed the assembly in Solidworks, and generated supporting technical documents needed for reference and external machining.
